About Nighttime erections
Nighttime erections, also known as nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT), are involuntary erections that occur during sleep, particularly during the rapid eye movement (REM) phase. These erections are a sign of healthy neurovascular function and are largely mediated by testosterone levels and adequate blood flow to the penile vasculature. The presence of regular nighttime erections is an indicator of good sexual health and can differentiate between psychological and physiological causes of erectile dysfunction.
